Definition

Welding is a material joining process in which two or more parts are joined together at their contacting
surface by a  suitable application of heat and pressure in some welding process a filler material is
added to facilitate coalescence welding is most commonly associated with metallic parts but for
plastic also it is used.

 Types of welding

Arc welding

Arc welding

In electric arc welding is sustained or provides the heat required from melting the parent as well as
filler material .The work piece and electrode connected to the the two materials of the power source.
the earth is started by momentarily Touching the electrodes onto the work piece and then withdrawing
it to a short distance if you mm from the work piece. When the electrode and work piece are in contact,
current flows and when they are separated and arc is generated and the current continues to flow the
arc is generated by the electrons liberated from cathode and moving towards anode the earth changes
electrical energy into heat and light.
about 70% of the heat liberated due to  tracking of electrons at anode Rises the anode temperature to a
very high value 5000 to 30000 centigrade this heat melts the base metal as well as if of electrode in the
area surrounding the earth a weld is formed when the mixture of Melton base and electrode metal  solid
files Hindi world area.

same 70% heat is generated at anode  a work piece connected to anode will melt 50% faster as compared
to if connected with this is why work piece is usually made positive and electrode as negative and  is termed
as straight polarity.
